Here's a little information to help you plan your trip.
The Stanage Bay boat ramp at Thirsty Sound is 2-lane and well constructed. The Thirsty Sound Coast Guard is located right next door.
You are best to launch and leave the ramp within 3 hours of high tide due to shallow waters. Locals know the water level needs to be up to the second pylon on the left, for any craft larger than a small tinny. This will avoid hitting the concrete pillow that's at the end of the ramp.
Stanage Bay is a small, remote location but most people find it has everything they need for their stay.
The Plumtree Store and Crab Pot Bar offers more than your standard convenience store and pub. You can also find petrol, gas bottle refills, Saturday coffee shops, showers, courier service to Rockhampton and takeaway meals.
You'll find specialty suppliers in Stanage like food-grade ice and fishing tackle and hardware.
We love seeing what our guests get up to in and around Stanage Bay.
